EAST MILLINOCKET SCHOOLS

2021-2022 Preliminary ESEA Allocation

East Millinocket Schools accepts funding through the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965.  As part of the ESEA, East Millinocket School Department is required to provide a reasonable opportunity for public comment on the ESEA consolidated application and consider such comment prior to the submission of the application.  Our ESEA team, composed of a representative from all stakeholder groups, has been working to draft a proposal for ESEA funding for the 2021-2022 school year.

Our outline proposal is based on data gained throughout the school year and district, school, and ESEA goals.  Our initial allocation in Title I funds for the 2021-2022 school year is $133,950.94.  These funds will be used to pay for interventionists and ed techs to help our struggling learners in K-4, provide NWEA testing to monitor learning for K-4, provide support for homeless learners, and provide an opportunity for parent involvement.  Our Title II allocation for this year is $20,882.16. Potential projects will be related to professional development and educator effectiveness and pay for Reading Recovery training, traveling to workshops and conferences, book studies, and out of district meetings. The $12,732.01 allocation in Title IV funds will be used to provide academic enrichment, student support, and social and emotional learning programming. The Title V allocation, in the amount of $13,486.08, will support other title programs, classroom instruction, and college and work readiness.

An update with our final allocation will be shared when that becomes available to us. Anyone who would like to review a draft of the application or provide comments on the application may do so by contacting the office at 746-3511 between now and Monday, July 26, 2021.

The East Millinocket School Department utilizes all assessment data to help inform our practices at the district, school, classroom and individual levels for our students.  Although we encourage students and parents to participate fully in our assessment program, it is important to note that parents/guardians may opt their child out of state testing.  If you are interested in doing so, please reach out to your child's principal to make this request in writing.
